Rubina, a Venetian schoolmistress, having received no news from her fiancé Carlo Pasquini whom she met while he was a conscript ends up in Rome looking for him. When she eventually traces Carlo, who is interested only in himseif an dancing (Travolta style), Rubina has him sent to jail, accusing him of improper behaviour. She then takes up service in the house of Davide and Adele, the parents of Delia, a lesbian, and Leo, an unlucky Casanova. The parents also own a drapery shop. A happy-go-lucky and clever girl; it isn’t long before all the members are devoted to her as she plays up to all their vices. Indeed, after having Giovanni, the Sicilian bookeeper and fiancé of the reluctant Delia, sacked, Rubina takes over as manager of both house and shop. When Carlo is released and makes her pregnant, Rubina marries Leo. This literally paralyses Davide, the only one who has compietely understood his new daughter-in-law’s wanton ways. She continues her liasons with Carlo, brings a young negress, Josephine, into the household and finally becomes... Delia’s lover.
